Corporate photography - Sinead Kennedy - Yoga for Cyclists

Although I am an Irish commercial photographer, I don't just photograph people in suits!

Sinead Kennedy is a very busy physical therapist, pilates and yoga instructor, based in Churchtown in Dublin. The latest addition to her business is “Yoga for Cyclists” and Sinead asked me to provide a selection of corporate portraits  which would highlight her new service, while also fitting in with the existing feel of her website.

As Sinead says, "Yoga for Cyclists is designed to undo the bent over posture assumed from hours on the bike. It aims to boost cycling performance, allowing the participant to feel stronger and more confident on their bike." You can find out more information at sineadekennedy.com.

Photographing performing artists in Ireland

As a big fan of the arts, I really enjoy photographing performers, artists and indeed creative types of all kinds. One of the country’s leading choral choirs, the Frascati Singers under the direction of Eunan McDonald, are fresh from their sold-out performance of Verdi’s Requim in Blackrock. I was delighted when they asked me to photograph them "sensitively" in rehearsal and to provide a selection of atmospheric group and performance photographs on location. Being a corporate event photographer, I have become very experienced at photographing Irish singers, musicians and dancers. As someone who enjoys everything from Bach to Springsteen, via jazz and folk, it was a real pleasure to work on this particular commission, to such a beautiful live soundtrack.

Photography for Lauralynn House at the Dublin Women's Mini Marathon

It is always a privilege and great fun to photograph the staff and volunteers running on behalf of Lauralynn, at the women’s mini marathon in Dublin, last weekend. This year, House on Leeson Street provided the meet-up venue and the participants lead by founder of Lauralynn, Jane McKenna, raised much needed funds for Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

Business editorial photography in Dublin

The first time I saw Kevin Nolan, was when he made his debut at fullback, for Ireland against the NZ All Blacks, in the late 1990’s. Today he is CEO of the very successful Hibernia REIT, a Dublin-focused Real Estate Investment Trust. So, being a big rugby fan, I was thrilled when the UK commercial property magazine EG, commissioned me to produce his portrait.

I photographed Kevin at an EG event under the spectacular dome of City Hall in Dublin. Other participants seen above with Kevin, were Simon Betty (Hammerson), John McCartney (Savills), Dan O’Brien, (Irish Independent) and Joe McGinley (Iconic Offices). Kevin’s portrait was photographed to a specific brief and ran over one and a quarter pages. The original appears below.

Photographing engaging business communication

My business tag line is "photography that communicates". But, how do you actually photograph communication?

Sure, you can photograph people who are using a telephone, tablet, laptop etc. - and I often do. But for me its those photographs that show the intensity of the interaction between two or more people that are most powerful.

Photographs that capture that moment of optimum action or reaction, whether making a point or listening to one. They’re the ones that are most memorable, because they feel real. They show communication in action. They emphasise the connection between people and bring an often missing emotional quality into corporate photographs. And that can have a powerful effect on the viewer.

After all, whether we are communicating in business or in life, we are all searching for connection.

Commercial Photography - Photographing people at work

As a corporate photographer, part of my job is to photograph people at work. It is a privilege to watch experts from all walks of life engaging with their work and I am often left with a sense of wonder at the sheer variety of skills, that I see people bring to their jobs. Here are just a few examples. You can see more on my website: noelhillis.com

Coast - a personal photographic project

COAST, is an ongoing personal environmental photographic project, which tries to examine objectively how the sea interacts with man made structures, both on the water and beside it. This particular set was photographed in the west of Ireland during Autumn and Winter 2016. Check out my website to see some more images from the project.
