Commercial Portraits in Dublin

Last Friday, Catherine Dunne launched her latest novel "Missing Julia" as part of culture night, in the Irish Writer's Centre in Dublin.

Here are a couple of the portraits that I was commissioned to produce of Catherine for publicity and for use on the cover of the book.

Tipped for an Orange prize nomination, "Missing Julia" is a powerful portrayal of life, love and reconciliation. Published by MacMillan, it is available in bookshops nationwide.

Business portraits

Preparation is key in corporate photography, because you have to get the shot. As a professional, that is what you are being paid to do.

For example, when I photographed financial expert Liam Croke, I was set up to start shooting in the company corporate style, before he arrived. We began the session after a brief chat, but shortly after, the time originally allocated had to be seriously curtailed, when one of Liam's clients arrived early for a meeting.

Fortunately, I work very quickly and not only did we get the required images, but in a really short time produced a variety of poses and setups which can be used in the future.

I guess, in corporate photography, the motto is: Always be prepared!
